ConsulBooks is a launch-preview bookkeeping product for owner-operated U.S. service businesses. It is designed around one job: bring in bank and card activity, keep uncertainty visible, and produce portable records without making an owner configure a full accounting suite.
Who operates ConsulBooks
ConsulBooks is operated by Dr. Michael Lyons P.C. The product is new and is being released as a capped public preview while production integrations, support processes, and paid billing are completed.
Owners can use required authenticator MFA, connect selected U.S. bank and credit-card accounts through Plaid, import CSV/OFX/QFX statements, review transaction suggestions, teach private vendor rules, post balanced journal entries, view posted-ledger reports, invite a read-only accountant, and download a yearly accountant package.
The optional OpenAI suggestion path is built with owner consent and minimized transaction fields, but it remains inactive until a production service connection is configured.
What we do not claim
ConsulBooks does not claim to be a CPA, tax preparer, audited financial-statement service, formal bank-reconciliation system, or complete replacement for every QuickBooks or Xero workflow. It does not claim SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification or categorical security superiority.
Payroll, invoicing, bills, inventory, tax filing, accountant editing, firm staff roles, formal reconciliation, and formal close controls are not part of the current release.
How we earn trust
Product limits are published alongside capabilities. Comparison pages use official provider sources, include cases where a competitor is the better choice, disclose ConsulBooks' commercial interest, and carry visible review dates.
Important workspace actions are recorded, model-only suggestions never auto-post, and customers can disconnect institutions, revoke accountant access, export records, or permanently delete a workspace.
