What agents ask first.
How is commission income recorded?
Deposits from your brokerage are recognized by payer and categorized as commission income, with split or fee deductions kept as separate transactions so your gross and net stay visible.
Does it track mileage?
No. ConsulBooks categorizes bank and card activity, including fuel, tolls and vehicle costs. Use a dedicated mileage app if you deduct by the standard mileage rate, and give the log to your accountant alongside the export.
What about MLS dues, lockboxes and marketing?
Board and MLS dues, signage, photography, staging and ad spend are recognized by vendor and grouped into recurring categories you approve once.
Can I keep personal spending out?
Yes. Mark a transaction personal in the review queue and it stays out of your business books, with the decision recorded in the audit trail.
What does my accountant get?
Read-only portal access if you invite them, plus a yearly download with P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, general ledger and transaction CSVs.
